WHAT MAKES US BOYS

PITCH – What makes us boys is a poetic and intimate coming-of-age documentary that tells the story of a teenager growing up in nowadays digital world. It is a heart-to-heart coming-of-age documentary film. Janet en Timothy follow the two young brothers, their family and friends, during a period of two years. Scenes are combined with YouTube videos in which the teenagers share their daily life. Daan’s voice over, that we cut from multiple interviews, leads us deeper into his inner world. As a result, the film becomes a mosaic of funny, painful, typical and awkward moments and gives a realistic insight of growing up in the digital age, which can be wonderfully rich and horribly lonely at the same time.
